TRAFFIC ALERT – U.S. Route 301 Mainline Project Will Require the Nighttime Closure of Boyds Corner Road Middletown (New Castle County)

As part of the on-going U.S. Route 301 Mainline Project, the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that their contractor will be placing concrete girders for the new U.S. Route 301 bridge over SR 896 (Boyds Corner Road). The closure is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, May 2 through Thursday, May 4 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. each night.

In the event of inclement weather, the nighttime closure of Boyds Corner Road will resume on the evening of Monday, May 8 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9.

Detour Routes:

Northbound SR 896 traffic will be detoured via U.S. Route 13 south onto Marl Pit Road and north onto U.S. Route 301/SR 71 and return to SR 896.

Southbound SR 896 traffic will be detoured via U.S. Route 301/SR 71 south onto Marl Pit Road and north on U.S. Route 13 and back to SR 896.

Local Traffic Detour

Local traffic approaching SR 896 from Ratledge Road, Cedar Lane, and Jamison Corner Roads will be directed along the same route as above. At all times, local residents will have access to their homes.

Variable message boards are posted notifying motorists of the upcoming road closure.

Detour signage will be posted for motorists.
