The Quiet Resorts Charitable Foundation (QRCF) believes that helping local students realize their college dreams benefits our entire community. In 2017, QRCF is awarding two $8,000 scholarships to local graduating seniors. In addition to one regular QRCF scholarship, the Foundation will also award the Captain William O. Murray Scholarship to a student who exhibits a strong commitment to civic and community service. Each recipient will be awarded $2,000 per year for four years. Both scholarships are based on a combination of community service, academics, school involvement, and financial need
Local graduating seniors who reside in the towns of Fenwick Island, Bethany Beach, Ocean View, Millville, Clarksville, Selbyville, Frankford, Dagsboro, and their surrounding rural areas. This area encompasses the zip codes of 19944, 19930, 19970, 19967, 19975, 19945, 19939 and 19966. Members of the class of 2017 in these zip codes are encouraged to apply. Applications and additional details about the process and eligibility are available online at www.qrcf.org. The deadline for this year’s scholarships is April 14, 2017.
QRCF scholarships are funded through the generosity of donors, including local businesses, The Bethany-Fenwick Chamber of Commerce, and via QRCF fundraising events including Caribbean Christmas, The Hair of the Dog Run, and BunnyPalooza! Run.
“Events such as our Bunny Palooza!, coming up on April 15, help us fund these scholarships. We are grateful for the extraordinary community support that helps us to do good works in the Quiet Resorts.” Said Brigit Taylor, QRCF President. “We have awarded more than $600,000 to our local community in our 15 year history.”
The QRCF is grateful to the many partners who have helped to make past and future scholarships possible; opportunities to contribute as a donor, sponsor or volunteer are available. Please visit www.qrcf.org.
