Polar Bear Plunge in Rehoboth Beach, DE Rescheduled
A message from Special Olympics Delaware
RE: Polar Bear Plunge in Rehoboth Beach, DE moved from Feb 5-7 to March 12-14
We regret to announce that the 2010 Lewes Polar Bear Plunge Festival, and all elements of it, has been postponed to March 12-14 due to the projected nor’easter and accompanying snow, high winds and rough surf.
The decision was made first and foremost with the safety of our Bears, volunteers and spectators in mind.
The decision was made with input from the event safety team, which is comprised of representatives from the Delaware State Police, the City of Rehoboth Police & Fire Department and the Sussex County Emergency Response.
All Plunge Weekend Festival event times remain the same with one exception: the Run to the Plunge will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 13.
Answers to common questions:
Q: What if I am already registered?
A: Any individual currently registered for either the Run to the Plunge or the Plunge does NOT need to re-register.
Q: What if I am already registered for the Run to the Plunge but can not run on March 13?
A: Because the registration fee is non-refundable, anyone pre-registered for the Run to the Plunge who can not attend on March 13 will receive the event tee-shirt by mail after the March 13 race.
Q: What if I am already registered for the Plunge but can not come on March 14?

A: Online registration is open again for anyone still wanting to register for the Run to the Plunge or the Plunge at www.plungede.org, so please continue to recruit friends to participate.
Q: What about my hotel reservation?
A: You need to individually cancel your hotel reservation. The hotels who are partners with the event — Atlantic Sands, Breakers, Boardwalk Plaza and Comfort Inn Route One — are NOT charging bears a cancellation fee. But you MUST call and cancel your room and re-book for the March 12-14 weekend. We can not speak on behalf of any other hotels in Rehoboth or the surrounding areas and can not speak to nor are we responsible for their individual cancellation policies.
We will continue to provide updates on the March 12-14 events at www.plungeDE.org.
