As part of this year’s 11th Annual Tri County Go Red Event a photo contest is being held to promote heart disease prevention for women. Residents of Worcester, Wicomico and Somerset Counties are encouraged to submit pictures of the women in their lives engaging in heart healthy habits such as nutritional cooking, exercise and the various other lifestyle choices women make every day.
The contest is open to all residents and the photos will be of women from all ages and walks of life. All submitted photos will be displayed at the event on February 5th and attendees will vote on the picture that they feel best represents heart disease prevention. In addition to the physical display, all of the pictures will also be featured online on the Go Red Planning Committee Organization’s websites and Facebook pages. Both individual and group photographs are wanted and the contestant who submits the winning entry will receive a free FitBit.
Plan to attend the 11th Annual Tri County Go Red Event on Thursday, February 5th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Pocomoke Community Center located at 1410 Market Street, Pocomoke. Aside from the photo gallery, there will be speakers, health screenings, demonstrations and dinner at this free event.
For more than a decade Go Red has been a collaborative heart disease education and prevention effort between Atlantic General Hospital, McCready Health Foundation, Peninsula Regional Medical Center and Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester County Health Departments. Through Go Red women on the shore have learned about heart disease, their risk factors and what they can do to reduce their risk.
