Delaware Amish Community Spring Auction
Note: This posting was for the 2010 Spring Auction.
The 2013 Amish Community Spring Auction is May 25, 2013.
Each year the Delaware Amish Community holds two farm auctions. The first held in April benefits the Amish hospital fund, which helps the community pay for excessive hospital bills. The second held in October benefits Amish parochial schools that are scattered throughout the countryside west of Delaware’s Capital.
Spending the day on an authentic Amish farm in rural Delaware is a must have experience. This year’s spring auction begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday April 17, on the Dan Miller farm at 5790 Halltown Road (DE Rt 8), near Hartly, Delaware. On a map it is not far from Pearson’s Corner, and an easy drive from Philadelphia, Baltimore or Washington D. C area.
Farm equipment, hand-made quilts, household items, livestock and a lot more will be auctioned off until it is all sold. Plan to stay the whole day exploring the barns and wandering around farm. Just do not go in the house as it is a private residence. If you get hungry lunch will be available for purchase onsite.
