Beach Party is the Theme of August’s First Friday in Dover
DOVER, DE
Honey Voshell and the Honeycombs will fill the air with beach tunes on Friday, August 6 on Loockerman Street, Downtown Dover. The “First Friday” event theme is Loockerman Street Beach Party, so grab your Hawaiian print shirts and sandals and come on down to this free event.
The event gets underway with artisans and musicians located throughout the business district. The Honeycombs will perform on Loockerman Street from 6-8 p.m. In addition to the beach party theme, First Friday-goers will have a chance to win t-shirts provided by the Downtown Dover Partnership, sponsors of the event.
The Honeycombs are a popular Delaware band. The group was founded in 1990 by its leader and drummer, Honey Voshell. The band is famous for their oldies music ranging from the 1950s through the ’90s.
To create a festive beach atmosphere, beach balls will be tossed from the stage, and commemorative t-shirts will be given away while supplies last.
“Not everybody heads to the beach on summer weekends, so we’ll provide a taste of the beach in Downtown Dover,” said Bill Neaton, Executive Director of the Downtown Dover Partnership. “For those who are looking for some beach music, here’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy local artisans, shop for unique items and dine in our eateries.”
