Adkins Arboretum Offers Outdoor Art Programs for Kids

This May at Adkins Arboretum, two unique offerings for children will teach aspiring young artists to explore and learn about the natural world.

In Outside Art Adventures for Kids, children in grades 1–5 will learn how to draw, sketch, sculpt and paint plants, trees, bugs, birds, animals and much more. Projects for this exciting eco-art class include nature sketching, animal sculptures, ink painting, nature prints, watercolor painting and plein air painting. The three-session program is offered Sundays, May 8, 15 and 22 from 10 a.m. to noon. The fee is $45 for members, $50 for the general public.

In Eco-Art Kids, young artists in grades K–3 will have opportunities to explore with natural materials while expressing themselves creatively. Projects in this discovery-based art and nature class include nature prints, mud painting, earth art, nature sculptures and fiber weaving. The three-session program is offered Sundays, May 8, 15 and 22 from 1 to 3 p.m. The fee is $45 for members, $50 for the general public.
