2nd Annual Rehoboth Run-for-the-Books 5K

If you like to go the extra mile for children’s education and you’re looking for a great location to race, the 2nd Annual Rehoboth Run-for-the-Books 5K is an excellent place to start. The event is on Saturday, May 20th and starts at 8:30 a.m. behind the Rehoboth Beach Public Library on Christian Street and follows a residential course. The library is located at 226 Rehoboth Avenue in Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971. Rehoboth Run-for-the-Books was listed as the second best road race in Delaware by AmericanTowns Media. Get your friends and come run or walk through parts of Rehoboth where you may have never visited. The post-race party at Papa Grande’s Rehoboth pulls out all the stops!

Early registration is $25 until May 18. Event day cost is $30. Online registration is at www.races2run.com. On the day of the event registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. in the library breezeway. All proceeds stay locally to support the Rehoboth Beach Public Library.

The breezy, flat, scenic course into less-traveled residential areas of Rehoboth is USATF certified with chip timing. Entrants receive a tee shirt. Awards go to overall male and female winners and masters male and female winners and top three male and female finishers in 10-year age categories 9 and under to 80. Top walkers receive awards. The post-race party sponsored by Papa Grande’s Rehoboth includes a Breakfast Taco Bar with fixings. Beer will also be available for participants over age 21. Guest passes for Papa Grande’s may be purchased for $5.

Major sponsors are Cape Gazette, Delmarva Public Radio, Jack Lingo Realtor, Papa Grande’s Rehoboth, and Village Improvement Association, which was instrumental in starting the library in 1912. For more information about sponsorship or about the event go to www.races2run.com.

The race is presented by Friends of the Rehoboth Beach Public Library. Since 1971, the Friends have provided more than $366,481 to the library through its fundraisers. Its donations have purchased materials and supported educational programs for children, youth and adults.
